6 Countries Where your Visa Allows you to Work

Do you want to travel longterm but are stressed about how much it will cost? Are you willing to stay in one place for a bit and work for some extra travel money? Then this guide is for you! Here are 6 countries that offer visas that legally allow you to work and earn money while there.

In any case you need to check if your country of citizenship is able to be granted these visas. Some countries have different rules and requirements depending on where in the world you are from so do your research! Below is an outline for US Citizens.

1. Australia

This is probably the easiest and most common place to travel and work longterm. The Australian Working Holiday Visa allows you one year to travel around Australia and to legally work any job in the country during this time. If you do 88 days of specified work you are then able to extend the Visa for another year, and can do the same for a 3rd year after that.

2. New Zealand

Basically the same as Australia only in New Zealand. You get one year to travel New Zealand and work anywhere you please, however, if you work 3 months of seasonal work you can only extend for 3 more months.

3. Canada

This one is actually kind of complicated for US Citizens. Many countries are allowed to create a profile for the International Experience Canada (IEC) and get chosen randomly from their country’s pool. However, US citizens are not eligible to do this without first contacting a Recognized Organization.

4. South Korea

The Working Holiday Visa in South Korea allows you one year to work with the option for a 6 month extention for US citizens. Similar to the WHV you are not allowed to study under this visa, however, you are able to enroll in Korean language classes only.

5. Singapore

The Working Holiday Programme in Singapore is only for young adults who have graduated or are currently attending an undergraduate college. The WHP provides a 6 month visa and can be granted multiple times, however, a 12 month waiting period is required between each 6 month visa.

6. Ireland

The Working Holiday Authorization in Ireland is only for young adults who have graduated or are currently attending a full-time undergraduate college. The visa is valid for one year with no extension available.

Legally working abroad can be trickier than you think but these 6 countries have made it a bit easier for US citizens with these working holiday options. If you dream of living and working abroad, then these are great jumping off points for you to check out!
